Body of elderly man with ‘violence marks’ found in Qazigund

Srinagar: Body of a 65-year-old man with ‘violence marks’ was recovered from Nussu Sangdan in Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district this evening, officials said.

Identifying the deceased as one Ghulam Mohammad Ganie son of Ghulam Qadir, the officials told GNS that his body was spotted by some passersby lying in open agricultural land. Upon intimation, a police team reached the spot and took the body into its possession, they said.

“The person has visible violence marks on his head, apparently inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon”, they further said.

A police official has confirmed the recovery of the body from the area to GNS and said that the cause of death is being ascertained. (GNS)
