SRINAGAR : After winning the Lok Sabha election New NDA government will have an uphill task as the BJP’s election manifesto promised abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution.

While abrogation of Article 370 and 35A may face legal hurdles, ensuring safety of pilgrims during Amarnath Yatra starting on July 1 and extension of President’s rule beyond July 3 will be the first tests for the new government in the militancy-ridden state, they said.

Sources in Delhi told News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir that one of the first steps of Modi 2.0 on Kashmir could be revoking Article 35A. “It would most probably be done by an ordinance. It could also be withdrawn by a Presidential order, the same backdoor that first PM Jawaharlal Nehru had sneaked it through, bypassing Parliament”, it adds.

Sources said Resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in certain pockets may also pick up the pace with central rule in place through the governor.

Sources said that after taking the oath the first thing Modi govt will do the revoke art 35a. (PTK)
