Jammu: BJP legislator R.S. Pathania has voiced strong opposition to the government’s decision to form a sub-committee on the reservation issue, defending the current reservation policy implemented by the BJP. Pathania lauded the BJP for its efforts in bringing the New Reservation Policy into effect, describing it as fair and beneficial. He dismissed criticism from opposition parties, including the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party, accusing them of politicizing the reservation issue without providing clarity on the proposed sub-committee’s role and criteria.
“There is nothing wrong with the New Reservation Policy. The National Conference has failed to explain how the Cabinet Sub-Committee on reservation will function or what its specific criteria will be,” he said. Pathania said that the present policy is robust and does not require any amendments. He criticized the NC and PDP for creating confusion and stirring unnecessary debate over a policy that, in his view, addresses the needs of marginalized communities effectively. [KNT]
