In ignored Bijbehara School, mosquito’s, rats are classmates of students

SRINAGAR: An old school which was established in 1960 in Takibal area of Bijbehara Town (former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s Hometown) is in poor state, having an old building.

Locals said that the school building is one story having 4 rooms including an office. “All the rooms have developed big cracks on walls. The window panes and roof top of the school is also in bad conditions. Almost 80 students are admitted in this school in 8 classes. 8 teachers are teaching them among 5 are on deployment bases”, they said.

“The school does not Even have a Concrete Building and facilities”, they added. Nargis Farooq student of the school told PTK, “Many Classes are Combined Together in one room to attend class due to shortage of Space. We face much hardship and are not able to concentrate on Studies as many classes are held together”.

“There is no Playground, washroom, Computer Lab, Library etc in our school. We are facing difficulties”, student Told PTK.

“If God forbids earthquake comes or heavy winds blow there is always a Danger of Collapsing a Building”, another student Told PTK adding Mosquitos and Rats have now become our Classmates.

The school was established in 1960 as a Primary School in Takibal, Bijbehara. It got its first upgrade as a Middle school in 2008. They said that the school lacks Basis Infrastructure and facilities.

Headmaster of the school told PTK, “The School Building is in poor Condition as Government did nothing for this school from last 60 Years”. Adding if some day it rains they have to announce holiday to half of a school students.

He also said, “There is a free land at certain place, if that is given to school a good Infrastructure can be developed for the school. (PTK)
