Srinagar, : A she-bear (sow) gave birth to twins in a village at Qazigund area of South Kashmir while locals captured two cubs of a bear in North Kashmir’s Banipora district.

Locals said when they tried to capture the bear, she fled away. Accordingly Wild Life Team was informed that arrived in the village and captured the bear after tranquilizing her.

Locals said that Wild Life Team put hard efforts to capture the bear. “The team was not equipped properly. Our village has witnessed several attacks from wild animals in recent past. A woman had sustained critical injuries after being attacked by a wild bear in our village. We appeal authorities to equip Wild Life Team with modern technology so that they can save people from the attacks of wild animals,” Locals said.

The bear and her two cubs were captured and shifted to safer place. They will be either released in a forest area or shifted to Dachigam National Park,” In charge Wild Life Department South Zone told. He admitted that there is lack of manpower and technology in the department.

Pertinently, there is only one control room established by Wild Life Department for the people. This Control Room is located in Kulgam that serves South Kashmir’s Anantnag district as well.
