Naem Akhtar Motivates him: Mir
Mehbooba’s meeting with Bukhari didn’t yield results
SRINAGAR: With major changes and shifts in the mainstream political establishment of valley chaos and confusions has trigger within the political parties.
It is being observed that the valley’s political scenario is heading towards serious tussles with their senior members leaving the party, joining others amid resignation of cabinet ministers of ruling party.
In the latest development where People’s Democratic Party’s, founder member, Tariq Hameed Karra joins the congress, the Congress’s senior member Nazir Ahmad Khan today joins PDP.
When asked, Jammu Kashmir Pradesh Congress Chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir told PTK Khan has left due to two reasons adding that first, Khan has alleged Senior Congress Leader and AICC General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Azad has given MP funds to the former Chief Ministers and Member of Legislative Assembly from Beerwa constituency, Omar Abdullah.
Mir said, according to the Khan, funds granted to Omar were used against him and his workers which led to the weakening of his political ground in the constituency.
Terming Khan’s allegation ‘a little matter’, Mir said that the party would have compensated him. He said, secondly Khan had apprehensions of NC-Congress adjustments till next assembly elections, he would be in danger. However Mir said, that adjustment is nowhere on the logical end.
Mir said, if the adjustments are required apart from assembly and parliamentary seats, we need it to do for Members of Legislative council (MLC) seats. Mir quickly adds that this will be not an alliance but a seat adjustment.
Khan according to Mir was assured for safe existence in the Council, if needed. He adds that Khan felt himself unsafe. Mir claims that PDP’s Naem Akhtar may have motivated him as their party has no candidate in the constituency.
Pertinently according to sources, PDP has promised Khan a candidate for Lok Sabha polls. Mir said, there is no harm to the party by his departure adding that if one leaves, many more will come. Mir wonders, if Khan had said PDP is a drowning boat, why he led to the suicide then.
Worth to mention, Khan has loosed previous assembly polls by 900 votes against Omar. He secured significant number of 2200 votes.
On the other hand, PDP’s inner tussle, that led to the resignation of two cabinet ministers, Basharat Bukhari, former revenue minister and Imran Ansari former Information Technology minister.
The whole chaos triggers after the re-induction of Altafa Bhukarri, who was snatched portfolio after former chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Syed’s death. Broadcaster-turned-politician, Bukhari was divested of key portfolios of Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and given charge of only less important Horticulture department by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti after senior PDP leader and former minister Altaf Bukhari was inducted in the cabinet.
Imran Ansari, who was Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, resigned because he was promised by Mehbooba that he would be given an important portfolio as and when cabinet is expanded,
While Karra was the face of the PDP in the Srinagar city, sources said Bukhari exerts lot of influence in Srinagar and can prove beneficial for the PDP in filling Karra’s vacuum and strengthen party, which has remained stronghold of NC.
Meanwhile Bukhari, had a detailed meeting with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday which last for two hours. Sources said that Bukhari discussed very political issues, governmental issues, party related issues and also discussed some personal issues, which were the reasons cited by him in his resignation as well.
Sources said that the induction of Altaf Bhukari was also discussed which has earlier led Naem Akhtar to call resignation of Basharat Bukhari a family issue. However, Bahsarat Bukhari had denied that before media.
Sources added that initially, the Chief Minister was reportedly considering sending resignations to Raj Bhawan but it was stopped later. Adding that e in the last two days there have been efforts at various levels to persuade the minister including Imran Ansari, to withdraw their resignations to avoid further rumpus in the party.
Sources added that meeting with the Bashart Bukhari has not reached to any immediate conclusion. Adding at that it was follow up of detailed meeting held with top PDP leaders including Sartaj Madani, Abdul Haq Khan and Mohammad Rafi Mir. It adds, that the meeting has not yield results so far.
