Poonch: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against over a dozen people including students and villagers who raised pro-Azadi slogans during a protest demonstration against the onslaughts of article 35 A on Monday.
Giving details, SHO Gursai, Sanjay Gupta told GNS that during the protests, students government Higher Secondary School Bhata Dhurian blocked the road and later shouted pro-Azadi slogans.
Taking cognizance of the matter, police have registered a case under FIR Number 55/2018 under sections 120 B, 124 A, 34 A against the students and some villagers, SHO said. The investigations have been launched to identify all the accused, he said, adding that law will take its course in the matter.
The students were protesting against attempts of repealing Article 35A when they raised slogans like “Hum Kya Chatay Azadi” (We want Freedom) on Monday.
“Following the incident, a team of officers including Additional SP Poonch Anwar ul Haq, SDPO Reyaz Tantray, and SDM Dr Tanveer Ahmad Khan also visited the school yesterday and took the report which was later submitted before the Deputy Commissioner for further necessary action”, SHO said.
SHO said that today the FIR under the relevant sections of law was registered on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch.
“Some teachers, concerned Naib Tehsildar and senior villagers are also under scanner and are being questioned as has been alleged that the students shouted slogans in front of them but they did not stop the students from Azadi sloganeering”, SHO said. (GNS)
