Ganderbal: Authorities woke up from a deep slumber and retrieved 25 kanals of state land that was occupied by land mafia in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
From past couple of year, some respectable citizens were continuously complaining that land mafia is active in Lar Ganderbal where they have occupied state land, putting up fences and planted trees. These complaints were either ignored by the authorities or thrown into the dust bins for the reasons better known to them.
Official sources told Kashmir News Trust after the officials at the helm of affairs felt pressure from some quarters, they visited the spot and retrieved state land measuring 25 kanals at Lar Ganderbal.
“We don’t know why and how authorities wake up from deep slumber. Locals had been continuously demanding action land mafia but no action was initiated against culprits,” said an elderly man.
He said that it is not only in Lar area where land mafia has occupied state land, but in other parts of the district, the story is same. “Land is being occupied in connivance with the top officials and it is an open fact,” the man added. (KNT)
