Authorities fail to regulate the prices of essential commodities in Kashmir

Srinagar : Residents across  the valley are complaining of vendors selling vegetables and other eatables at an exorbitant rate.

Residents while seeking the administration’s concern allegedly said, amidist covid 19 outbreak, several food articles have seen a enormous price jump following a panic buying by some people to stock the essential commodities.

The residents added that authorities have failed to regulate the prices of essential commodities.

“Strict and immediate measures are needed for regulating the prices of essential commodities so that they remain within the reach of the common man’s  buying capacity,” a resident of Srinagar said.

While taking to Kashmir News Bureau, a local of Anantnag said, ” Day by Day the price of essential food items are touching the sky and it is surely out of our reach, We have  already and are still suffering a lot due to the lockdown and in such situation if the prices of vital food items will be increased abnormally per day, we will soon starve to death.”

“The hiked priced of essential commodities like meat is now 550 per kg, drumsticks which every one buys with eagerness is 280 per kg and much more is creating panic among us, as we now are not able to buy daily based food items. Neither the manufacturers nor the authority   has a bit of concern for the  labourer, and a  common man. The hiking prices are far beyond our reach.”

She further said.” The holy and pious month of Ramadhan is coming, all of us had weaved trances but now with the increased cost of commodities, they all have turned into fantasies. 

If this rising trend continues as such  and the concerned authority or the Government will not take the matter in their hand, the sufferings of the common people will know no bound”.

With the detection of 20 fresh positive cases for deadly Coronovirus, taking such cases to 427 in Jammu and Kashmir, the toll of positive cases rose to 427 including 370 from Kashmir Valley and 57  from Jammu division. (KNB)
