Srinagar : The Army Friday said that it saved lives by evacuating accident victims in the Srinagar city.
According to the Army statement issued to news agency KINS, an accident took place on the road leading from Bemina Chowk to Rawalpora Chowk near Tengpora Bridge at around 1400h on 13 May 20.
“The driver of a bus lost control of the vehicle after failure of its brakes, which led to a collision with a Scorpio. At the accident site there were 07 to 08 street vendors selling fruits and shoes. Two autos and one Hyundai Eon was already parked there and people were busy purchasing items when the incident took place. This led to a series of collisions as the Scorpio in turn hit the Hyundai Eon, Civil Auto and finally hitting the people who were there,” it said.
The statement further reads that two persons, Shabir Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Rehman Bhat, a resident of Sir Syed Abad, Bemina and Muneer Ahmed Sheikh son of Abdul Ahad Sheikh of Khansahab, Budgam were critically injured. “The bus driver ran away from the site and PS Sadar has filed a FIR of this incident”.
It said that the Army personnel on patrolling duty nearby immediately rushed to the scene and took stock of the situation. “Without wasting any time lifesaving first aid was administered to the injured persons and they were evacuated to SMHS Hospital for further treatment. The prompt action ad quick evacuation of the injured was critical in saving their lives. Traffic control was also ensured and traffic flow was directed to avoid any congestion due to the accident”.(KINS)
