Army distributes cash and kind among people hit by cross border shelling in Kupwara

Kupwara : Army Monday distributed cash and kind among the civilians affected by cross border shelling in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Pertinently, three civilians including a woman and a child were killed in the shelling yesterday. These included 8 year old Ziyan Ahmed of Tumana Kupwara, 18 year old Javaid Ahmed Khan of Chowkibal Kupwara and 36 year old woman Shameema Begum of Chowkibal. A couple of vehicles and residential houses also suffered damage in the shelling.

An official told KNT that on the directions of 7 Sector, soldiers from 15 Rashtriya Rifles headed by Commanding Officer Abhisheikh Singh distributed releief among the affected civilians.

A cash assistance of Rs 30,000 were provided to the slain families while Rs 5,000 were given to other affected persons. Army also distributed clothes and other items among affected people. (KNT)
