SRINAGAR : Alleging that the army chief’s warning against the people of Jammu and Kashmir is motivated by political interest; Congress Leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said the center lacks initiative to solve the situation in Kashmir.
The Congress on Friday cornered the Centre over the lack of any initiative to solve the situation in Kashmir and alleged that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s statement, which issued a warning against anti-national elements in Jammu and Kashmir, is motivated by political interests.
He said that the government should be blamed for the situation in Kashmir adding that it was not so bad during their regime. “In this regime 1000 kids were affected by splinters, 1200 kids lost their eyes,” Azad told news agency.
He said that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat’s threatening statement is unjustified adding that it can be the Centre’s policy, not the Army’s.
Pertinently General Rawat has said, “The people who have picked up arms, the local boys, if they want to continue with such acts of terrorism and display flags of the ISIS and Pakistan then we will treat them as anti-national elements.
