SRINAGAR : Veteran Actor and Bolloywood Super Star Amitabh Bachchan while responding to a twitte seeking financial and medical support to a Kashmir Photo-Journalist, Bilal Bahadur injured while discharging his professional duties in Kashmir on 26 January, writes “Give me his Contact Number’.

Pertinently Senior Photo-Journalist Associated Press (AP), ALtaf Qadri had twitted about Bahadur’s condition, and asked people to support photographers and camerapersons who work in dangerous circumstances. He twitted, “Dear @vineetjaintimes one of the @TOIIndiaNews photographer, Bilal Bahadur, who was injured during an assignment recently is in a dire need of financial & medical support! Should people who put their lives at risk be ignored by their orgs coz they are just stringers?”.

Altfa’s twitte was responded by the Amitabh Bachchan among many others. Congress leader Salman Nizami also sought contact details of the photo-journalist to help him.

Bilal Bahadur, was injured while covering a funeral in Kashmir on 26 January. He had mounted a truck to take photos where from he fell down. Bilal works as a photographer with The Times of India and Kashmir Life.
According to Doctors he had a dislocated shoulder, a broken elbow and other injuries. He is bedridden and need medical support to recover from grievous injuries.
Bilal is the only breed earner for the family consists of his father, wife and two children. Bilal’s colleagues say that with additional medical expenses, he is worried about providing for them.
Altaf spoke about safeguards that employers need to provide to journalists in Kashmir, especially photojournalists and freelancers.
Requesting all Press Associations, Press Clubs, @IndEditorsGuild and Press Council of India to come together and help freelance journalists who r exploited by news orgs. Time to frame a policy & to have a debate around this issue. @Ra_THORe @mumbaipressclub @ShekharGupta
