SRINAGAR: Clashes erupted between government forces and students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today.
Reports said that students of IUST assembled at the campus and staged a pro-freedom demonstration against the killing of top commander Manan Wani and his associate by the government forces in an encounter last week.
The students shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans, tried to march outside the campus. However, as soon as they came out of the university campus government forces intercepted them. This lead to angry students throwing rocks on government forces who responded by lobbing tear gas canisters. This led to the outbreak of clashes. (PTK)
