Sajad Lone questions NC

Jammu: With J&K Legislative Assembly failing to transact any business on Monday due to protest from MLAs of the ruling alliance, the three resolutions seeking the restoration of statehood lapsed.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the three resolutions seeking statehood were listed in the business of the House for discussion and voting. However, the resolutions couldn’t be discussed due to protests from ruling alliance over rejection of an adjournment motion for discussion over Waqf Bill. The resolution were submitted by NC legislators Hilal Akbar Lone, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone and independent MLA Shabir Kulley. They were selected through draw-of- lots on March 25.

Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone, in a post on X, formerly twitter, questioned National Conference over its protest, saying whether they were protesting about Waqf Bill or stalling statehood resolutions. “3 resolutions seeking restoration of statehood lapsed today. This is a similar situation when resolution on Afzal Guru lapsed in 2013 when NC’s speaker adjourned the House after Congress, then an ally of the NC-led government, created pandemonium out of blue,” he said—(KNO)
