Srinagar : Amid lockdown over COVID-19, Jammu & Kashmir’s highest seat of power –the civil secretariat- opened here partially on Monday after a gap of six months.

All the employees who turned up on the opening day of civil secretariat walked through sanitisation tunnels installed by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

“We have installed four sanitisation tunnels in the secretariat,” commissioner SMC Gazzanfar Hussain told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

Before entering the civil secretariat, the Health department also screened the employees with thermal devices to measure their body temperature as a measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Interestingly, Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu also turned up in the civil secretariat Srinagar, even as Darbar Move would formally re-open here next month.

As already announced by the government, the Darbar will open in Srinagar on 15 June as opposed to its scheduled opening in the first week of May.

The Civil Secretariat is functioning from here today with the staff and officers on an “as is where is” basis, i.e., staff will continue working where they are based—(KNO)
