SRINAGAR :Former People’s Democratic Party leader and former education minister Altaf Bukhari is set to support Farooq Abdullah in Lok Sabha elections.
Sources said that Altaf Bukhari would support Dr Farooq Abdullah, Lok Sabha candidate in Srinagar constituency. Sources further added that Altaf Bukhari will also fight from Amira Kadal constituency as an independent candidate in coming state assembly elections.
Syed Altaf Bukhari was the MLA in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly from Amira Kadal constituency for the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party and elected Education Minister. Previous PWD Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari also held the interim finance minister for the state of J&K, after former financial minister was sacked by the ruling party.
After accused of anti-party activities, he quit the party and is not a member of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party anymore. His close relative and senior another PDP leader Mohammad Dilawar Mir held several meetings with former ministers Hakeem Yasin and Ghulam Hassan Mir to launch another political party in Valley headed by Altaf Bukhari.
