Administration to provide government quarantine facilities to arrivals; paid facility available at Srinagar, Jammu, Gulmarg, Katra

Srinagar : With commercial flights set to resume from May 25, all passengers arriving at Srinagar airport would be quarantined for 7-days and tested for COVID-19.

Highly placed sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that all passengers arriving at Srinagar airport would be quarantined and tested for COVID-19. “Chief Secretary B V R Subramanyam has reached Srinagar to oversee the arrangements for resumption of flights and quarantining of passengers,” they said.

As per sources, the administration has decided that it will offer only government quarantine facilities to passengers arriving here. “But passengers can avail hotel quarantine facility at minimum fixed payment,” they said, adding, adding that paid quarantine facilities will be available at Srinagar, Jammu, Gulmarg and Katra.

According to them, the local administration will fix rate for paid quarantine facilities. They disclosed that Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department Dheeraj Gupta has been appointed as nodal officer for Srinagar airport arrivals.

“Over 3000 people are expected to arrive daily from May 25. In the beginning, nearly 80-90 flights will operate per week,” they added. Meanwhile, the government has directed SKIMS, GMC and JVC to ramp up testing facilities—(KNO)
