SRINAGAR : Following the party decision of giving ticket to Senior Leader National Conference Mohammad Akbar Lone to contest upcoming parliamentary elections, his son Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone will contest the assembly election from the Sonawari constituency .
Sources told Press Trust of Kashmir that the NC has decided to give him mandate from the Sonawari as he has worked for the party during the 2014 polls.
However sources added that as Akbar Lone is all set to be the party’s candidate for the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency now his son will prepare to contest assembly election.
Lone is one of the senior leaders in National Conference and has won the past three assembly elections from Sonawari constituency in Bandipora. In 2009, he was elected as speaker of the state assembly and held the position for almost four years. He was also minister for higher education in the National Conference-Congress government.
While speaking to News agency Press Trust of Kashmir Akbar Lone said “I have no information regarding all this and there is no official announcement as yet”.
He said that if i get an opportunity to talk about Kashmir issue in parliament, i will highlight Kashmir issue”. (PTK)
