SRINAGAR: Final year students of govt. colleges mostly from GDC Bemina staged a protest, against KU under the banner of All J&k students union; against what they called “high handedness of the Kashmir university”.

Several under graduate students (BG) gathered before Sir Syed gate of varsity and started sloganeering against KU and evaluators, Said Aasif wani a spokesperson AJKSU in a press statement.

Students alleged that evaluators do not care about their career and KU is trying to generate finance from them; it looks more a business unit than an educational institute, added Javid ah, a student.

Protesting students said evaluation status of math and English is worst where only about 8% students have managed to pass; that too with less marks .Is it possible that only 20 students among 300 can qualify English and those who have secured good marks in other subjects fail, asked Abrar Ahmad a medical student.

Students of the Islamia College of science and commerce alleged; that evaluators have done hard marking, maximum students have failed, and others are not eligible for KU entrance test because of low percentage.

Protesting Students were holding placards that read; “Don’t ruin our career,” “we want justice,” “recheck our English papers” and were shouting anti university slogans. They should recheck our papers without any fee and declare it before KU entrance application date. Maximum of us have only 10 to 30 marks; so are not even eligible for re -evaluation, something is definitely wrong there, said Nasir Ah.

It has become a new trend of Kashmir University to harass students in different ways. KU students get low percentage as compare to other reputed institutions of the country. We are depressed as our career is on stake, we are confused and request authorities to look into the matter and redress our problem, added Bilkeesa emotionally.
