Srinagar: The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) has welcomed the recent judgment by the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, which ruled that a passport cannot be denied to a person merely because of the involvement of a family member in militancy-related activities.

Reacting to the verdict, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi criticized the previous regimes of the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for subjecting people to unnecessary suffering by denying them their constitutional rights.

“NC and PDP have systematically victimized innocent people under the pretext of security concerns. The court’s decision is a landmark judgment that upholds justice and ensures that individuals are judged based on their own actions rather than the deeds of their relatives,” Inam Un Nabi said.

Welcoming the court’s decision, Inam Un Nabi added, “This judgment not only restores faith in the judiciary but also exposes how past governments of NC and PDP manipulated security agencies to deprive individuals of their fundamental rights.

AIP stands with all those who have been wrongfully denied their passports and urges authorities to expedite similar cases without prejudice.

“AIP reiterated its commitment to ensuring that constitutional rights are upheld and pledged to continue fighting against any discriminatory practices that deprive people of their rightful opportunities.
