Srinagar : While the Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered release of salary of all employees on June 30, contractual lecturers in Higher Education Department complain that their salary is yet to be released.
Scores of these contractual lecturers told news agency KDC that the college authorities have not released their salary despite the government directions issued last week.
The Financial Commissioner of the Finance Department in an order on 24 July directed all the departments to pay salary on July 30 in view of Eid ul Azha.
“Our salary is yet to be released by the college authorities. The accounts officers in colleges claim that these funds have been stopped by the higher authorities which is delaying our payment. When other departments and employees got salary on time, why do colleges don’t follow the government order,” they said.
Commissioner Secretary Higher Education department Talat Parvez said that as per government directions he has directed all college authorities to pay the salary of all staff including contractual staff.
“We don’t have any pending cases as of today. If there is any pending case, we will release his or her salary today. Those lecturers who have done online class work and got the assignments, they should get their salary before Eid. I will take up the matter with the college authorities so that those who have pending salary will get their salary today,” Parvez said.
They urged the lieutenant governor and financial commissioner to intervene in the matter.(KDC)
