BJP top leader arriving on October 20 to take stock of party performance, meet 500 party workers, chair crucial meet
Srinagar: Ahead of scheduled Block Development Council Polls in Kashmir slated for October 24, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Genearl Secretary Ram Mahav is all set to visit Kashmir on October 20 to check party’s pulse and to pass important directions to the party cadre.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Madhav will meet 500 party activists at a party convention at Tagore Hall, Srinagar on October 20 (Sunday).
Sources said that that Madhav will take stock of poll preparedness and pass necessary directions to the party cadre ahead of the BDC polls. He is likely to chair a crucial party meet at BJP headquarters in Srinagar.
So far, a total number of 15 Candidates have been elected as Councilors from BJP unopposed. Of this, six are from district Shopian, four from Pulwama including one Kashmiri Pandit, two from Bandipora and one from Ganderbal, Antnag and Budgam each.
BJP had given party symbol to 70 candidates for BDC polls in which 15 were elected unopposed so far. Sources said that other 60 were fielded as proxies. Pertinently, BDC polls are being held at a time when leaders of major political parties are either under house detention or lodged in preventive custody. The Governor administration has decided to go ahead with the BDC polls at a time when three main major political parties have decided not to take part in the BDC polls.
