Srinagar: Hours after National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that there will be “no pre-poll alliance with any political party”, his son and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that there is no question of alliance with BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Addressing the media persons here in Srinagar, Omar, said that there is no scope for any alliance with NDA. “No door or window or even track is open for alliance with NDA,” he said.
Furthermore, Omar stated that the discussions over three parliamentary seats including two in Jammu and one in Ladakh will be held soon with the I.N.D.I.A bloc.
“Our entire objective of fighting the parliamentary elections first is to get our seats back from BJP. Our aim in assembly elections will be to come back with a sizeable number, so that we can start to undo the damage BJP has done to J&K since 2019,” he said.
“To undo the damage, we can obviously not be part of the NDA and our entire campaign at that time when the assembly elections happen will be targeting BJP for everything they have done to J&K,” Omar added.
NC Vice President stated that it was a baseless rumor that they are joining NDA. “We are not knocking the doors of NDA. There is no scope for the alliance with NDA,” he added.
“I know why this is being done, it is a habit of some people when they see NC getting stronger they try to weaken them by hatching conspiracies and misrepresent the statements and play with the words. We want to make it clear that INDIA Alliance has already three seats including Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla,” he said.
Omar added three seats for J&K and Ladakh are presently held by BJP and their aim is to stop BJP from winning them. “We have not started the process of seat -sharing with Congress to achieve the goal. Formally, we had some conversations, and in the coming days, the President of NC will chair an internal meeting to discuss the issue,” he said.
He also clarified that there will be no discussion on three seats of Kashmir as these seats are already with the I.N.D.I.A alliance.
Pertinently, NC President Dr Farooq Abdullah while speaking to the media persons had stated that there would be no pre-poll alliance with any party—(KNO)
