SRINAGAR After three days of protests and shutdown, normalcy returned in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday as the separatists called off the two-day shutdown.

All the business establishments, educational institutions, public transport, shops began their functioning normally across valley.

There was a huge rush in Srinagar city. People were seen doing normal work, shopping besides traffic movement also began normally.

Early in the morning children accompanied by their parents were seen waiting for the school bus like any other normal day.  The additional deployment which was in place in view of the parliamentary polls in Srinagar constituency was removed today by the authorities.

Pertinently the shutdown call was extended by the separatists due to the killing of civilians on the day of by-election, which forces Election Commission to postpone the Anantnag parliamentary bypoll to May 25.

Eight civilians were killed in security forces firing during polling in Dugam and Ganderbal district on April 9. Most uprising occurred in Budgam district where authorities have ordered re-polling at 38 stations on Thursday.

However reports said that the movement was only restricted around sensitive installations in the valley.
