Advocate shot dead in Shopian

SRINAGAR: A former public prosecutor was shot dead in Pinjoora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district late Sunday night, police said.

An official said that unknown gunmen barged into the home of Advocate Imtiyaz Ahmad of Pinjoora village and opened fire on him.

The reports suggest that he was close aide of National Conference leader Shabir Kullay. Kullay unsuccessfully fought assembly elections in 2014.

Advocate by profession, Khan was public prosecutor in NC-Congress government.
