Baramulla : The border residents in north Kashmir have appealed to both the armies of India and Pakistan to adhere to the ceasefire pact and let the holy month pass peacefully, without causing any hardships to the residents.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), elected representatives from both border district Baramulla and Kupwara appealed both India and Pakistan to let people live with peace and not to make them suffer in holy month of Ramadhan.
The elected representatives believe that during the ceasefire violation it the local population which is made to suffer. Nishada Parveen, Block Development Council Chairman of Teethwal in Tangdhar sector of frontier district of Kupwara told KNO that whenever guns roar along the line of control people living here are subjected to immense problems.
“Over the time we have witnessed cross border shelling during which people have suffered immensely with restricted movement of people as they fear for their lives,” she said.
She said that no community bunkers have been constructed so far, for the safety of people, “Whenever the armies trade fire along Line of Control (LoC) people are made to suffer without any safety”. she said.
Shahid Ahmad, a Sarnpach from Nambla area in Uri also said that no community bunker has been constructed in the area to provide safety to the residents during cross border shelling.
He also said that even in this time of Covid-19 pandemic there is no respite for the people living in border areas of north Kashmir as both India and Pakistan have resorted to cross border shelling.
The representatives urged both the governments if not permanently at least adhere to ceasefire pact during this holy month—(KNO)
