JCPS hails Altaf Bukhari for not allowing disruption of academics
SRINAGAR: Joint Committee of Private Schools today hailed the Education Minister Syed Altaf Bukhari for deciding to look into the issue of forcible imposition of BOSE prescribed books on all private schools and giving a breather to private educational institutes to continue with their own books.
The Committee said that the Minister has been kind enough to look into the gravity of the situation and step in at the crucial time. “The order about the BOSE books was threatening to disrupt the entire academic year of Kashmir and put in jeopardy the future of more than six lakh students,” said G N Var president Joint Committee of Private Schools. “We are thankful to Hon’ble Minister for not allowing such an order to disrupt the academic session of 2017 and allowing schools to continue with their curriculum as of now.”
The Committee said that there are proven complaints against the quality of BOSE books and the introduction of same in private schools would have in no way improved the quality of education. “Our schools teach some of the best books in the world and moving towards BOSE books would have meant demotion,” said Var.
The Committee said that they are always ready to work with government to plug any loopholes and address any complaints that may come to fore. “We have already approached government to form a high level committee of experts that also includes representatives of schools so that they can select standard books in tune with global demands for our students,” said Var. “On our side we are already in talks with Japanese experts and are exploring other avenues to continuously upgrade the quality of our curriculum.”
The Committee also directed the schools not to get distracted with the books order and continue with teaching their own books with zeal and dedication.
