SRINAGAR: Two para-military men were killed and two other persons suffered injuries after a speedy wanton of CRPF a motorcycle at Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.
Official sources told news agency GNS that a vehicle of CRPF 164 bn collided with the bike after it came under stone-pelting at Hiller Kokernag resulting in injuries to three persons riding on bike and injuries to the driver of the vehicle.
All the injured were rushed to nearby hospital where two of the persons riding on the bike succumbed to injuries. The deceased CRPF men were in civvies and were both locals.
The deceased have been identified as Riyaz Ahmed Wani of Verinag and Nissar Ahmed Wani of Kokernag.
The two injured have been identified as Roop Singh (Driver of Wanton) and policeman Rayees Qamar (pillion rider).
Roop Singh – the driver of the CRPF vehicle (wanton) was shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.
Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG) South Kashmir, Amit Kumar told news agency GNS that initial investigations revealed that a wanton of CRPF and a motorcycle had collusion in the area. SSP concerned reached to the spot to ascertain further details.
SSP Altaf Khan, when contacted, told GNS that the CRPF vehicle (Wanton) came under the stone pelting and the driver lost the control resulting into the collision with the motorcycle and subsequently, the vehicle skidded off the road.
In the mishap, the driver of the CRPF vehicle suffered head injuries after being hit by a stone. Three more persons on the motorcycle also sustained injuries. Two of them later died.
“A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered and further investigation initiated in this regard,” SSP Khan. (GNS).
