Srinagar: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has honored the memory of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, highlighting his instrumental role in the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.
In a heartfelt tribute, Dr Farooq Abdullah praised Dr. Singh for his unwavering dedication to addressing the challenges faced by the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community and his commitment to facilitating their return to the Valley.
Speaking to the media Farooq Abdullah acknowledged Dr. Singh’s tangible contributions, saying, “If there was anyone who took concrete steps to rehabilitate our Kashmiri Pandits, it was Dr. Manmohan Singh.” Reflecting on the hardships faced by the community during the insurgency of the 1990s, Abdullah commended Singh’s proactive approach in providing meaningful solutions that offered hope for their resettlement.
Farooq Abdullah also recognized Dr. Singh’s vision for lasting peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, adding, “Those who work are often criticized, but Dr. Singh’s tireless efforts for the welfare of Kashmiri Pandits and his broader initiatives for peace and development will never be forgotten.” His leadership, focused on security, infrastructure, and welfare, remains a vital part of the region’s ongoing recovery.
