SRINAGAR: Residents of Ziyarat Sharief Batamaloo here have expressed resentment over the dilapidated road in the area.

A delegation from the area told GNS that post-2014 floods, the stretch of the road suffered patches and since then they have been demanding macadamization. However, authorities did not undertake repairs, they said.

The delegation said due to uneven surface and potholes, several vehicles have been damaged.

“During rains, the whole stretch turns into mud and we face problems to even venture out of our homes. We make a fervent appeal to minister for roads and buildings to look into the matter and direct the concerned authorities to undertake repairs of the road at the earliest,” they said.

The delegation also registered protest against non-fulfillment of “promises” made to them by local MLA to macadamize the nearly one-kilometer road stretch from Ziyarat Sharief up to the Unani hospital.

They also said the dust generated by passing vehicles is creating problems for the children and elderly. “It’s more troublesome for sick and people having respiratory problems,” they said. (GNS)
