BARAMULLA: The lackadaisical attitude of the Education and R&B Department was gauged today when the students of Govt Girls high school and Boys middle school Noorkhah Uri held a protest at Chandanwari village and blocked the Baramulla-Uri National highway against non-availability of accommodation at the two government schools.
Amid slogans against Education and R&B Department the aghast students were demanding proper accommodation as the two govt schools with 500 students are functioning from one building which has created a space crunch at the School and impacting students adversely. The protesting students alleged that due to non availability of Space and basic facilities they and teachers are facing lot of hardships.
Located in the Noorkhah of Tehsil Uri the teachers find it difficult to accommodate 500 students of two schools in the one available building.
“Lack of Space at the school is forcing poor students of the area to either discontinue their schooling or to get enrolled in private schools as the space crunch has been created due to negligence and personal interests of R&B Department as from last seven years they have not handed over the newly constructed building to Education department which was constructed after spending lakhs of rupees on the construction of building” told Students and locals while talking to Kashmir News Bureau Correspondent.
A student of 8th standard while talking to Kashmir News Bureau said they are facing hardships owing to space constraints and murky Sorroundings.
When Contacted ZEO Ugandan Mr Ghulam Jeelani told Kashmir News Bureau that there is space crunch in two schools because as of now they have only one building for the 500 students and a new building is ready from last seven years but for their personal gains R&B Department is not allowing us to shift our students there. He also added that he has already many times informed the R&B officials about the issue but all went in vain. (KNB)
