Srinagar: Education Minister, Sakina Itoo Thursday said that she is very concerned over the diminishing use of the Kashmiri language among children. She said it is a critical issue that demands immediate attention. Speaking at an event, the minister said that there is a dire need to preserve and promote Kashmiri, the mother tongue of Kashmir Valley, which she said is losing its prominence among the younger generation.

“It is deeply concerning that many of our children are unable to speak Kashmiri. As the Education Minister, I feel it is my duty to ensure that steps are taken to safeguard our linguistic heritage. We must create opportunities for children to learn and speak their mother tongue,” the Minister said. [KNT]
