Srinagar: A faction within the Jammu and Kashmir Congress unit has written to the All India Congress Committee (AICC), calling for an urgent change in the party’s leadership in the region.
Reliable sources told that the group has strongly criticized incumbent Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra, accusing him of undermining veteran leaders by referring to them as “deadwood.”
In their letter, the signatories emphasized the need for a new PCC president who is deeply rooted in the Congress ideology, respects its legacy, and can rejuvenate the party’s standing in Jammu and Kashmir.
They have argued that fresh leadership is important to uphold the party’s foundational principles and enhance its relevance in Jammu and Kashmir.
The leaders also expressed disappointment over Karra’s treatment of senior Congress members and workers, stating that such behavior undermines the morale of the party’s grassroots. They urged the AICC to take swift action to ensure the party’s long-term stability and growth in Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
