Says PDP down but not out, Up-downs come in politics, Will sit in opposition, raise peoples’ issues, Knew people would give clear mandate to NC-Congress
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said that the mandate given by the people of J&K is clear and there is no scope for any tempering with it.
She said PDP is down but not out and that she was sure about NC-Congress winning the majority.
Talking to reporters in Srinagar, PDP president said that the mandate is clear and loud. “I knew it beforehand that people would vote for NC-Congress combine,” Mehbooba said.
She said that people deserve all applause for their clear mandate.
“The mandate is clear and loud. There is no scope for tampering with the mandate now,” he said.
Asked about PDP’s fall, she said in politics there are ups and downs. “In 1996, NC had won 60 seats and in 2014, it won only 16. So these things happen in politics,” she said.
She, however, said that people have cleverly voted this time to keep BJP away. “Elections doesn’t mean that peoples issues are over. We will sit in the opposition and raise people’s issues,” she said.
Mehbooba said PDP is down but not out. “We are very much relevant as we have a proper road map for J&K,” she said.
To a query whether PDP would support NC-Congress, she said: “Why to be like Begani shaadi mei, Abdullah dewana (Why should we join them when there is no need),” she said.
She said people have not voted for a hung Assembly. “I believe, NC-Congress will reach 50 seats and there will no need for them to look for a support,” Mehbooba said—(News Vibes of India)
