SRINAGAR: The Principal District & Session Judge Budgam convicted one accused namely Kamal Jeet Singh son of Aya Singh resident of Attina Beerwah in the case FIR number 113/2002 of Police Station Beerwah under section 376, 302/RPC with life imprisonment.
According to the press release issued by the police media center, the accused was involved in rape and murder of two six year minor girls in the year 2002. A case was registered by Police Station Beerwah and after investigation, the case was challaned in the court of law at Budgam on 27th of November 2002. The trial of the case was conducted by Principal District & Session Judge Budgam and Police Budgam taking the matter as a heinous one ensured to produce the witnesses before the Hon’ble Court from last 14 years.
On 10th of December 2016, the accused was convicted for the offence under section 376, 302/RPC and today the accused was sent to Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar with the directions of the court to lodge the accused in the Central Jail Srinagar pending confirmation of the sentence of life imprisonment imposed upon the accused by the Hon’ble High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
