Says For Er Rashid, BJP is also like minded, won’t be surprised if he extends support to saffron party tomorrow; PDP can sit in BJP’s lap as well, urges voters stay vigilant about elements trying to divide NC vote
Ganderbal: Stating that J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha won’t have powers to frame laws on his own after October 8, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah Wednesday said there will be an elected government and the Assembly will be more powerful than LG.
Talking to reporters in Ganderbal, Omar said there is no law that can prevent anyone from contesting polls. “Jamaat-e-Islami candidates are fighting polls as independents as their party is banned. We should have complained against them as they are cutting votes on ground, but it is sad to see LG sahib claiming that they should not have been allowed to contest elections,” Omar said in reply to a query.
He said that after October 8, LG won’t be having powers to frame laws on his own as a new Assembly, which will be more powerful than him, will be in place.
About Er Rashid claiming that he would support like-minded people, Omar said North Kashmir Member Parliament in an interview to ABP channel has admitted that he will support BJP if the party needs MLAs to form the government. “Er Rashid has claimed that his doors are open for BJP. Now people have to decide and vote cautiously,” Omar said. “For Er Rashid BJP seems to be like minded as well. I have failed to understand his politics so far.”
Earlier, addressing a gathering at Ganderbal, Omar urged the voters to stay cautious and ensure forces trying to divide the NC vote are kept at bay. He also lashed out at PDP stating the PDP is yet to tell people for what it got vote in 2014 and what it did later. “I believe, if tomorrow BJP would need PDP’s support, this party won’t shy away from sitting in the lap of saffron party again,” Omar said—(KNO)
