SRINAGAR: Scores of people stages protests in north Kashmir’s Handwara against the alleged failure of authorities of to curb frequent burglaries and unscheduled power cuts.
Protestors including women from villages-Bakiakar, Wahipora, Lachipora, Goriakar and Badrikal blocked the Handwara Rajpora road which brought traffic to halt.
Aggrieved protestors despite repeated requests to higher ups, their pleas were not heard.”We are paying power tariff regularly. Still electricity plays hide and seek,” said Mohammad Jamal, who was part of the protest.
Jamal also said burglaries have been occurring in the residential and commercial establishments from past month. “It seems nobody cares for it. This has forced us to come on streets,” he said. (PTK)
