Jammu: Finally the day has arrived when the people of trans-Pir Panjal Anantnag parliamentary constituency will know who will represent them in the Lok Sabha as the stage for counting is set today (Tuesday).

Whether it will be the candidate of National Conference Mian Altaf Ahmed or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, or whether the BJP supported J&K Apni Party’s Zafar Iqbal Manhas.

According to the voters of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch will be having a major say in deciding the fate of these candidates and whosoever will get lead from these two districts will have an upper hand.

More than five lakh votes were polled in Rajouri and Poonch districts and the major share of votes of these areas are of Gujjars and Paharis and these two communities vote in opposite directions.

It will be interesting to know whether the NC candidate, who is a religious figure within his community, will be able to get their votes or not.

PDP president on the other hand is hopeful of getting handful votes of Gujjar community besides sweeping Pahari votes.

Apni Party candidate is relying on BJP’s support and after the polling was postponed from May 7 to 25, the newly formed party which is contesting its first ever election, is hopeful of getting the votes of BJP core workers and supporters.

Experts believed that NC and PDP will get good number of votes from Rajouri and Poonch districts and 11 Assembly segments of south Kashmir will decide the fate of candidates—(KNO)
