SRINAGAR: The authorities in Kashmir imposed strict restriction in parts of Kashmir Valley on Friday in a bid to foil the Islamabad Chalo rally called by Joint Resistance Leadership. All the pro-freedom leaders were placed under arrest, besides snapping Mobile internet services in parts of South and North Kashmir.
According to the reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau, the authorities placed strict restriction in and around old city Srinagar and in parts of South Kashmir. Due to the imposition of Curfew like restriction there were no Friday prayers offered at Kashmir’s grand mosque for the 17th week in 2017.
Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who defies house confinement to lead the rally was arrested along with other party activists outside his Nigeen residence. He was shifted to police station Nigeen along with other party leaders.
Engineer Hilal Ahmad War who also defied curfew was arrested at Nowgam on way to Islamabad, South Kashmir along with other scores of activists. War was accompanied by Javaid Khan, Press Secretary, Mohammad Shafi Dar, Personal Secretary, Arif Khan, Youth leader PPP Hafeez ur Rehman.
JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested from Maisuma along with other scores of JRL activists when they were marching towards Lal Chowk Srinagar against the declaring of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.
Earlier on Thursday placed almost all the Hurriyat leaders including Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Zaffer Akbar Bhat, Musdaiq Adil, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Syed Imtiaz Hyder and others either house arrest or detained in different police stations.
Pertinently, JRL has called for a public Jalsa on 15th December at Lal Chowk Islamabad to demonstrate before the whole world what people of Kashmir stand for. The JRL statement said it is a litmus test for the claimants of democracy, adding, this Jalsa will highlight the miseries and hardships faced by the people of Kashmir at the hands of forces, the leaders said that Indian leaders falsely presume to have defeated indigenous Kashmiri resistance by military oppression, NIA and ED terrorism.
Reacting to the curbs imposed by government the JRL in a statement said ban on peaceful JRL rally (Jalsa) in Islamabad has once again proved that India and its Kashmiri stooges have no guts to compete with resistance camp on political front.
