Srinagar : Inhabitants of Zewan, Pantha Chowk, Zafran Colony and Balhama here have demanded immediate resumption of Sumo services in their areas, saying that the absence of the facility have created immense hardships for students and elderly.
The residents, especially from Zaffran Colony, are being forced to face tremendous hardships from the past a few months as the Sumo services to and from Lal Chowk towards Zewan, Pantha Chowk, Zafran Colony and Balhama have been stopped for unknown reasons.
“The students, employees and especially elderly people have no option other than walking miles to reach somewhere to find any vehicles to reach their destinations,”
He added that a few months back, the sumo services have been stopped for unknown reasons, which is leaving the local populace here to lurch at large.
“In absence of the sumo services, the people are being punished as most of the households don’t have their own vehicle and thus it was the only option for them to reach their destinations on time,” said another resident, Aqib Wani.
The students are reaching their colleges and schools late in absence of sumo services, Ghulam Qadir Rather, another local resident said and demanded immediate resumption of sumo services in the area.
Meanwhile, Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Kashmir, Syed Bukhari told KNO that the route has been listed in the areas where e-rickshaws will ply from Monday. “The demand of people will be addressed as the e-rickshaws will start plying along the route from Monday,” he said—(KNO)
