Bandipora : Residents of Abdulain, a remote village of Tulail area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, have accused the government of failing to repair the school building which suffered extensive damages due to the heavy snowfall in 2008.
“Whenever we approached the administration about the issue, we were told that a proposal had been made and repair work on it would be started very soon. But that has not happened yet,” locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
They accused the administration of not being serious about the future of children.
“Due to lack of space, students are facing a lot of difficulties but nobody listens to us. The school building must be repaired immediately so that they too can get rid of these sufferings,” said a group of students.
“On the one hand, the government is claiming that the education system in the border areas will be improved, but we have been pleading for many years that the building should be repaired,” they said, adding that the government should take this issue seriously.
“If the administration wants, they can repair this building in a few days but we don’t understand why it is not being worked on,” they added—(KNO)
