Srinagar: Janata Dal United President for Jammu and Kashmir GM Shaheen Wednesday appealed to the Government to stop bulldozing the houses of poor people. He said the drive against influential is welcome but poor people should be spared.
“Nobody has right to grab the state land but at the same time Government should make it sure that poor people in possession of small chunk of land should not be harassed,” Shaheen said.
Shaheen was addressing a press conference at his Raj Bagh based office.
He said there is no doubt that influential people who have been in power in past are in possession of state land and that land needs to be retrieved and used for the welfare of the people.
He said Bureaucratic rule is not a response to elected government. “Let the elections be conducted in Jammu and Kashmir, so that people will have access to power corridors. We welcome the anti encroachment drive but at the same time we demand elections should be conducted,” he said adding that J&K is the only region in India where elections have not been held for the past 4 years.
