Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
“A police party of Police Station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Babagund Pulwama intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL3CBQ-4882 with two persons on board,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
During checking, officers were able to recover 10 Daizpam Injectables & cash amount of Rs 9200/- from their possession. Both the accused persons identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Abdullah Malik and Haris Nazir son of Nazir Ahmad Malik, both residents of Dalipora Pulwama were arrested on the spot. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 325/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been set into motion.
Meanwhile, police urged people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. “Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
