Reports said that three civilians, including a woman, were killed in the blast that took place at Bus Stand Tral. Reports said that among thirty injured, seven CRPF troopers were also wounded in the explosion. The injured were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tral for treatment among six civilians were brought to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment.
The deceased were identified as Pinky Kour, Ghulam Nabi and Mohammad Iqbal Khan. Meanwhile scores of people staged a protest outside the Sub-district Hospital Tral to demonstrate against the forces for “opening fire and resorting to pellet firing on civilians after a grenade attack.
While raising slogans against the police and CRPF, the protesters alleged that the forces opened fire on civilians after the grenade attack at Tral bus stand. However, police have denied the use of force after the blast.
In a statement terming the use of pellets as reported in by some social media as totally baseless, SP Awantipora Shri Zahid Malik said that no pellet was fired, however some shots were fired in air to prevent any further attack. He said that the forces showed maximum restrain during the incident.
The attack took place when Works Minister, name Akhtar was visiting the area to inaugurate a developmental project. When asked about the attack, Akhtar broke down as he talked about those killed and injured in the explosion. The minister said that the attacker was neither a friend of Tral nor Kashmir.
He added, “He was not a friend of Islam too”. Akhtar said that he wondered why they “chose this day (1st Muharram) to repeat Karabala.”
He said that forces showed lot of restraint by forces on civilians after the attack. “We need to introspect. We were moving smoothly. Forces also respond to situations as lives of so many people were at stake after the attack. And I don’t think anyone died of bullet injury. So I think forces showed lot of restraint. Every day people trade allegations on them (forces). But I think without forces, there will be chaos all around.”
