SRINAGAR: For the second consecutive day today, scores of Anganwadi workers continues their hunger strike at press enslave in Srinagar to demand enhancement into their monthly wages.
Scores of Anganwadi workers participated in this hunger strike against the government for ‘failing to regularize them since last 10 to 15 years.
The women protesters on hunger strike amid slogans like ‘we want justice’ were demanding enhancement of wages and regularization.
Talking to PTK, they said that they have spent most of their life on this job with a hope to get regularize someday but government is not concerned towards their plight.
Protesting Anganwadi workers said that the government has kept them in uncertainty. “During elections we are given duties apart from other assignments. If we exist nowhere, then why we get retired from our services. We failed to understand what is happening with us, why government is maintaining silence on this grave issue”, Gulshan Banoo, a worker told PTK.
They said that they have been demanding regularization of our services from last ten years, but government is not listening to their pleas.
They warned government in case they failed to fulfill their demands, they will resort to self immolation adding the responsible will be solely on the government. (PTK)
