SRINAGAR: APHC strongly denounced the undemocratic and anti Muslim decision of Government to  once again lock down Central Jamia Masjid Srinagar for  the second consecutive Friday and caging  Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at  his residence barring him offering Friday prayers and delivering the Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid.

The spokesman said once again strict curfew was imposed in downtown srinagar  turning the entire area into a military fortress by deploying police and paramilitary forces in huge numbers and causing distress to the residents of the area, who were also barred from offering obligatory friday prayers.

The spokesman said that it is the fear of the resolve and courage of the people and leadership of Kashmir, that authorities repeatedly resort to such repressive and cowardly measures under the bogey of “maintaining Law and order”

The spokesman said that repeatedly closing down educational institution for fear of student agitation, when last year huge concern was shown for their education also  exposes the hypocrisy and doble speak of the authorities.

The spokesman also condemned the use of force on the people of Mattan, Islamabad and vandalizing their homes and  property calling it shameful.

The spokesman also condemned  arresting APHC senior leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and lodging him in police station Islamabad ,terming the frequent arrests of Mr  Waza as political vendetta and  autocratic.

The spokesman said arbitary and illegal arrests and jailing of resistance leadership activists and aides have become a norm under the so called ‘democratic’ rule of police raj.
