SRINAGAR : All Parties Hurriyat Conference Spokesman, G. A. Gulzar in a press statement said that Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Geelani is yet again barred to offer the Eid prayers as the heavy police and CRPF contingent is deployed around his residence.

“There is no let up in the police cordon so it is likely that he may not be allowed to offer Eid Prayers”, statement reads. The spokesman said that the elderly Hurriyat Chairman has not offered Eid Prayers 15 time, continuously till date. The veteran Hurriyat leader’s prolonged house detention for the past 7 years (or more) has an adverse effect on his health conditions.

The spokesman termed this illegal and illogical action of the authorities as a grave cause of concern for the nation as a hole and the human rights organizations all over the world.

The spokesperson condemned the illogical harassment perpetrated by the ED against the Hurriyat leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah who has spent about 30 years in jails. Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar and Farooq Ahmad Dar have been served again with a remand for 27 days there by prolonging their detention in Tihar jail. Asia Andrabi, Fahmida Sofi and Gh. Nabi Gujar of Sopore have been re-arrested irrespective of court orders for their release.

The spokesman vehemently condemned the barbaric attitude of the concerned authorities and said that those who claim to be the guardians of law prove it a myth by their actions.
