Bandipora: The district hospital Bandipora in northern Kashmir is facing shortage of doctors, official data revealed on Saturday.
The data available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stated that out of 18 sanctioned doctors, three are vacant, two are absconding and another is on study leave while one is attached at Ganderbal hospital thus hampering the smooth functioning of hospital.
The locals have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to upgrade the facilities here, making a huge chunk of the population suffer. “The dearth of the staff here has not only severely hit the patient care but the available staff also remains overburdened which tells upon the smooth functioning of the hospital,” they said.
“The shortage of doctors means overburdening of the staff and more referrals to Srinagar,” said one of the employee posted in the hospital.
Meanwhile, people have requested the district administration and health officials to fulfil these posts as soon as possible—(KNO)
