Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested an absconding thief in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement Police said that on July 01 a written complaint was received by Police Post Humhama from the complainant Zafar Iqbal Rehbar Son of Late Mohammad Iqbal Rehbar resident of Housing Coloney Sanatnagar, regarding theft of readymade garments from his vehicle Wagon R registered No. JK04A 2552. Which he had parked outside IQ Mall Hyderpora.
The statement further stated that accordingly, a case FIR number 190/21 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, CCTV footage of the scene of crime was analysed and one unknown masked person was found involved and one Maruti 800 car with mark Nike Sticker on backside window of the car, the said vehicle bearing registration number JK03A 5062 was traced by Budgam Police from Waterihail and its owner namely Abdul Hameed Mir alias Hameed waza son of Abdul Raheem Mir resident of Kumar Mohalla Rawalpora Waterihail was found involved in the crime. Police party of Police Post Humhama raided the residential house of said thief and recovered readymade garments worth of lacs from the house of accused person, they said.
However, the accused was evading his arrest. After strenuous efforts the accused was arrested today. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused is a notorious criminal and some FIRs stands already registered against him at different Police Stations in district Budgam, reads the statement.(GNS)
